Santa Cruz County authorities bust hash oil lab

Authorities raided a drug lab at a Santa Cruz home Thursday, the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime team said.

Acting on an anonymous tip, SCCACT officers contacted the resident of a home on the 100 block of Fairland Way around 6 p.m. to investigate reports of a drug lab.

A search warrant was served, and agents found evidence of a clandestine butane honey oil operation at the home. Butane labs are very dangerous, officials said, because the process uses flammable gases to extract THC from marijuana.

At the lab, officers found extraction equipment, 41 5-gallon tanks of butane, 96 pounds of marijuana leaves and stems, 86 pounds of marijuana buds and five pounds of the concentrated cannabis known as honey oil.

The resident, Justin Pullman, was arrested on suspicion of possession of concentrated marijuana for sale and for manufacturing butane honey oil, Sgt. Mario Sulay said.
