Cal State Monterey Bay faculty hold mock memorial for expired contract

Faculty, students and staff at California State University of Monterey Bay held a mock funeral procession Wednesday as part of an ongoing contract dispute.

Participants wore black and carried RIP signs in a symbolic memorial service for the expiration of the labor contract between the teachers’ statewide union and CSU administration.

It was part of a statewide day of action held at by the California Faculty Association at 23 campuses in California.

The current labor contract expired 100 days ago and the two sides have not been able to reach an agreement. One of the central issues is that staff have not had salary increases in more than seven years.
