San Benito Co. Sheriff’s Office warning of recent mountain lion sightings

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received reports of three sightings of a mountain lion near Stonegate, a residential area in Tres Pinos.

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office is asking that all county residents remain vigilant while enjoying the outdoors.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife has issued guidelines on how to protect yourself, your property and your animals. It’s also issued information on to respond if you encounter a mountain lion. The city of Hollister has posted similar guidelines on its website.

If you see a mountain lion in San Benito County, call 471-1170, or call a DFW game warden at 649-2870 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
