Watsonville offering lawn-replacement rebates for city residents

Residents of the city of Watsonville can get a rebate for replacing high-water use lawns with drought-tolerant, permeable landscaping.

Residents can receive 75 cents per square foot, with a maximum rebate of $500 a year for single-family homes.

Materials that qualify for the rebate include:

Drought-tolerant plants
Mulch or compost
Artificial turf
Permeable hardscape materials, such as gravel
