Aptos High cheer team selected to perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Four Aptos Cheer team members were selected to represent their school at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Captains Retly-Mei Reyes, Maya Wilson, Sarah Ramirez and Kelly Murphy were selected after participating in a United Spirit Association summer camp in June.

The four seniors, who have been involved in Aptos cheerleading since their freshman year are short of funds.

They have been fundraising for the $12,000 that is needed to make the trip but are still $4,000 short.

The balance is due by October 31st.

About 650 cheerleaders from across the country take part in the Varsity Spirit squad at the parade. They’ll spend a week in New York, rehearsing for their performance. The trip also includes sightseeing, a Broadway show and a visit to Ellis Island.
