Aptos cheerleaders raising money to go to Macy’s Day Parade

Four Aptos High School varsity cheerleaders have been invited to participate in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Retly-Mei Reyes, Maya Wilsoon, Sarah Ramirez and Kelly Murphy are cheer team captains. They were selected to represent their school at their parade after taking part in a special cheerleading camp in the summer.

The teens have been working hard to raise money for the trip, holding bake sales and other fundraising events. They have to have the money in hand by Oct. 31, but so far, they are about $4,000 short.

More than 600 cheerleaders from across the country have been invited to take part in the parade. They’ll spend a week in the Big Apple rehearsing and seeing the sights.
