Greenfield police identify man fatally shot on Pepper Drive Thursday

Greenfield Police on Friday identify the victim of the previous day’s fatal shooting as Julio Medina.

Chief Adele Frese said the 27-year-old lived in Greenfield.

The suspect came up on Medina as he was sitting in the driver’s seat of his parked car on Pepper Drive Thursday afternoon and fired multiple shots. Medina was struck several times, Frese said.

A child under the age of 10 was in the car with Medina and witnessed the shooting, Frese said. She is safe with family now.

More shots also were fired at the car.

Frese said at this point, there is no evidence that it’s gang-related. She said that witnesses in the neighborhood have been helpful, but the best lead police have at this point is the tattoo on the suspect’s arm.

The tattoo was described as being red and green, and possibly in the shape of California. The suspect, a Hispanic male, was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the shooting.
