Greenfield police investigate a fatal shooting Thursday night

News Channel Five has learned that a man was fatally shot inside his car late Thursday afternoon.

Greenfield Police say the crime scene on Pepper Drive, involves a male victim who was sitting in his car when the shooter approached on foot and shot and killed the victim.

The shooter is described as a Hispanic male , roughly 5 feet 7, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He has a red and green tattoo on one of his arms, possibly in the shape of the state of California. The shooter ran from the Pepper Drive scene toward Apple Avenue.

There was a child in the car with the victim at the time of the shooting, and fortunately the child was unharmed.

Police have no motive.

Greenfield, King City and Soledad police helped with the investigation. The Monterey County Sheriff crime scene unit was on scene as well as well the CHP.
