Laundromat robbed at gunpoint in Watsonville

Watsonville Police are investigating an early morning robbery at the Fifth Street Laundromat.

An employee was inside just before 7 a.m. Monday, preparing for the day when a Hispanic male, between 19 and 25 years old, entered the business and requested change.

The employee opened up the small store section of the business and began to get quarters out of the register for the suspect. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the employee, then went around the counter and grabbed for money from the cash register.

The employee grabbed on to the suspect and a brief struggle ensued. The suspect was able to grab an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and was last seen running southbound on Main Street.

No one was injured.
