Statewide food drive comes to Monterey County

California Water Feeds Our Communities is hosting a statewide food drive to deliver locally donated food and produce to food banks hit hardest due to drought conditions.

Fifteen truckload of fresh produce are being sent to food banks throughout the state, including Watsonville, Salinas, Merced, Fresno and Bakersfield.

California Water Feeds Our Communities is a grassroots effort consisting of local businesses, service organizations and farmers who have partnered to help communities suffering from the lack of water.

Representatives of the organization will be coming to the Food Bank for Monterey County in Salinas Thursday afternoon.
