SWAT team responds to domestic dispute at Prunedale home

Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies called in the SWAT team to a Prunedale home early Wednesday morning after responding to a domestic violence call.

Deputies were called to a home in the area of Echo Valley Drive and Maher Road just after 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Edwin Fletcher was threatening the victim as well as threatening to harm officers if they showed up, deputies said. They heard shots fired from a rifle when they arrived on scene.

The SWAT team was called in just after midnight and Fletcher eventually surrendered around 3 a.m. He was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making threats of violence.
