Watsonville police investigating bank robbery near Ohlone Parkway, Harkins-Slough

Watsonville police officers are investigating reports of a bank robbery that occurred late Tuesday afternoon at Wells Fargo bank.

Police sent out a Nixle alert around 5 p.m. warning residents of police activity in the area of Main Street, Ohlone Parkway and Harkins Slough Road.

The search, which involved a helicopter, was called off around 5:45 p.m.

Police describe the suspect as an adult male, unknown race, but with light skin. He’s described as 5’8” with a medium build. It’s reported he possibly has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot and wearing a baseball hat, goggles, a jumpsuit, and carrying an orange bag.

Police said no weapons were involved in the robbery, and that the suspect used a note. He took an undisclosed amount of cash.

A tracker on the money went off but disabled a minute later.
