Deputies: Man fired flare gun into car in Santa Cruz County road rage incident

Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies say a man fired a flare gun into another car, sparking a small fire, in an apparent case of road rage.

Dante Stewart is alleged to have fired the flare gun into the other vehicle Friday afternoon in the area of Capitola Road at Woodrose Avenue. A small fire broke out in the center console, causing damage to the car but no injuries to anyone inside.

Stewart was arrested later that day at his home on suspicion of arson and assault with a deadly weapon.

Details of the incident that prompted the act of road rage weren’t immediately available.
