Crews contain 5,000 acre fire at Fort Hunter Liggett

Cal Fire crews are assisting the Department of Defense in battling a 5,000-acre fire that started Thursday afternoon at Fort Hunter Liggett.

The fire has been contained, but crews are still working to extinguish it. It started on one of the Army firing ranges, but no evacuations have been necessary.

Nacimiento-Ferggusson Road and Del Venturi Road are expected to be closed Friday but are likely to be reopened Saturday.
