Drainage installation begins Monday on Highway 17, Highway 1 in Santa Cruz

A project to install additional drainage on southbound Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County is slated to begin Monday, with work scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The work necessitates closures of the number 1, southbound lane of Highway 1 and southbound Highway 17 to the southbound Highway 1 connector – in the area commonly known as the Fishhook.

The southbound Pasatiempo Drive onramp to 17 also will be closed starting June 23 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Crews don’t expect delays to exceed 10 minutes and the work will likely be completed by the end of July.
