Monterey’s water supply project being reviewed by state

The Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project, currently under review by the state, will supply the region with a new, sustainable water source that provides future protection from drought and reduces pumping from the Carmel River.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is studying the project details and assessing impacts on the environment and customer water bills.

Its decision is expected by March 2015.

With the commission’s approval, a new source of water will soon be on its way for the Monterey Peninsula.

A report on the Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project is now available here.

The report details the project’s background, its progress, and what lies ahead for the Monterey Peninsula’s water supply.
