San Clemente Dam project expected to cause traffic delays

Motorists are being warned of traffic delays on Carmel Valley Road as crews continue to work to remove the San Clemente Dam.

Traffic delays of about 15 minutes should be expected between June 16 and July 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Delays will occur on Carmel Valley Road between Carmel Valley Village and the project entrance, which is two miles east of the village.

The San Clemente Dam Removal and Carmel River Reroute Project will be the largest dam removal in California history.

Residents can call a hotline number for traffic questions or concerns. The number is 1-866-225-7852.
