Roadway reopened after big rig flips on Highway 156

A portion of Highway 156 in San Benito County was closed Friday morning after a big rig overturned just west of Barnheisel Road.

The driver was carrying 83,000 pounds of produce headed to New York. After leaving from Salinas, he went to a scaling station in Santa Nella, where it was determined he was 3,000 pounds overweight. He was headed back to Salinas to unload when the accident occurred.

California Highway patrol closed the roadway for about 90 minutes, snarling traffic.
