Blood drives in Monterey County aimed at keeping donations up

A Ryan Ranch business sponsored a blood drive Thursday for Community Hospital in an effort to help ensure a blood supply during the summer months when donations typically decline.

The blood drive took place at Pro*Act from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Two more drives are coming up this month.

June 8: 8 a.m.-noon at Shoreline Community Church, 2500 Garden Road, Monterey.
June 29: 11:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m., Pacific Coast Church, 522 Central Ave., Pacific Grove.

Blood may also be donated at Community Hospital’s Blood Center, 576 Hartnell Dr., Monterey. Appointments are recommended and can be scheduled by calling 625-4814.

Donors must be 17 or older — or 16 with parental permission — and weigh at least 110 pounds. More information on donating blood may be found on Community Hospital’s web site.
