Deputies Find Pipe Bombs And Gun In RV’s Lock Box

Monterey County sheriff deputies arrested a homeless man Monday after finding five pipe bombs and a revolver in his RV’s lock box during a traffic check.

The sheriff’s office said while on patrol, deputies noticed the RV parked on the side of the road on Highway 1 in Moss Landing displaying a license plate of another vehicle.

When they contacted the man inside, he told them the paperwork for the vehicle’s registration and identification was in the lock box. That’s when deputies made the discovery.

Richard Erik Snyder, a convicted felon, was arrested and taken to the jail. He had active restraining orders against him, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm.

The Monterey County bomb squad responded. The suspect’s proximity to the Moss Landing Power Plant was determined to be coincidental.
