Man Kicks 5-Year-Old in Stomach, According to Police

Salinas police say 23-year-old Diego Edeza is now behind bars after spitting on a 19-year-old man then kicking his 5-year-old brother in the stomach.

Police say it all started when Edeza was jogging on North Main Street Sunday afternoon. Edeza then spit on the 19-year-old causing a confrontation, according to police.

This is when things escalated and police say Edeza then kicked the 5-year-old in the stomach making him fall into oncoming traffic. The child was able to get out of the way in time before getting hit, according to police.

Police eventually arrested Edeza on felony child abuse and battery charges.
