Bicyclist Hit, Killed by Motorist off Salinas Road
Emergency crews are investigating an deadly accident that happened on Salinas Road at Lewis Road in Pajaro Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. along a stretch of road where cyclists are often seen riding.
Officers say a 73-year-old man from Aptos was riding northbound in the right shoulder, then made a sharp left turn into on coming traffic. That’s when a 43-year-old female driver from Watsonville hit the cyclist.
CHP says drugs or alcohol don”t appear to be a factor and the driver and two young passengers were not hurt.
Officers say the cyclist was wearing a helmet and anyone on a bike should give drivers a hand signal if they plan to turn.
We don’t know if that was a factor in this crash yet.
