Woman in Very Critical Condition After Being hit by Car

A woman in her 20s is in a Bay Area hospital in very critical condition after a car hit her, sending her flying 25 feet Tuesday night.

Salinas police say they responded to East Laurel Drive just east of St. Edwards Drive for reports of a vehicle and pedestrian collision just after 7.

When they arrived, they found that the pedestrian, who is a Hispanic adult, walked directly into the path of the passenger car headed eastbound on Laurel.

The impact of the crash forced her to bounce off the car’s windshield and landed at least 25 feet away. She sustained major head trauma.

Responding officers say the driver was very cooperative and didn’t appear to be under the influence.
