Man Shot in Salinas’ First Homicide of 2014

Police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year.

It happened at 7:30 Saturday morning on the 2300 block of North Main Street. Salinas police say a 37-year-old man was shot multiple times near The Point apartments. Authorities say they tried to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Salinas police are calling the shooting gang-related.
