Woman Trapped in Car After Rollover Accident on Highway 101

The California Highway Patrol, along with other emergency crews, are responding to an injury accident on Highway 101, just south of Salinas.

The crash was reported at 6:45 Thursday evening near Airport Boulevard. One woman was trapped inside her vehicle after it flipped, landing along the northbound median.

A CALSTAR helicopter was reportedly called in to transfer the woman to a Bay Area hospital for treatment. She was complaining of back pain, although the extent of her injuries are not known.

Despite the car stopping on the northbound side, the accident caused a major traffic back-up for southbound traffic, as emergency crews stopped in those lanes.

It does not appear alcohol is a factor in the crash, say officers.

California Highway Patrol is investigating.
