Juvenile struck in Castroville shooting

A juvenile male was struck and taken to a local hospital after a shooting Sunday afternoon in Castroville, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Sergeant Bryan Hoskins said the shooting happened before 1:00 p.m. in the area of Walsh Street and Jackson Street.

Hoskins said the shooting appears to be gang related.

The Sheriff’s Office has a suspect description, but no one is in custody at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
