MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Monterey will be holding a special meeting to lay out options as it works to address its $10 million budget deficit.

The city says the deficit would begin this coming fiscal year, which starts in the fall.

Keeping the city's spending how it is now is not sustainable, according to the City of Monterey. They say that rising costs and insufficient revenue growth are playing major roles in the budget deficit.

The City Council will hear a number of direct, indirect and one-time methods to reduce the city's spending at the meeting Wednesday.
