Some Clouds, Mostly Clear Skies, Warmer Weather

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – A weak low pressure system aloft will linger over the region through early next week, keeping the marine layer in place along the coast. Temperatures will remain near seasonal averages but may trend slightly warmer midweek, particularly in inland areas.

Air Quality: Good      

This Morning: Expect coastal cloud cover during the late night and morning hours, especially around the coast and near coastal cities. Temperatures will start to rise today with warmer afternoons inland.

 This Evening: Low clouds and patchy fog will begin to redevelop along the coast and may drift inland overnight. Temperatures will cool into the 50s and 60s. Skies will remain mostly cloudy near the coast, while inland areas may see partial clearing before clouds return later tonight.
 
Extended: Looking ahead to the extended forecast, a gradual warming trend is expected through the week, with inland areas seeing the biggest temperature increases. While coastal regions will stay under the influence of the marine layer, interior valleys could experience pockets of moderate heat, especially by mid to late week. Breezy afternoon winds will continue, particularly through wind-prone areas like the Salinas Valley. Fire weather concerns remain elevated in those areas due to the combination of dry conditions and gusty winds. No major heatwave is expected at this time, but temperatures may run 5 to 10 degrees above normal by the weekend.
