SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – Warmer temperatures expected for most areas on Sunday as sunshine increases around the region. A (dry) trough will pass by into Monday/Tuesday which will cool inland areas and keep coastal areas seasonable. Winds may be occasionally gusty as well.
Air Quality: Good
Overnight: Low clouds slowly fill back in around the bay and into nearby valleys. Patchy fog possible. Lows in the 40s to low 50s.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy early, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Warmer, with coastal highs in the 60s to low 70s—warmest on the north side of the bay—and mid-60s to mid-80s inland. Breezy west-northwesterly onshore winds becoming windy up valleys late in the day.
Monday (Memorial Day): Low clouds early, then partly cloudy. Coastal highs in the 60s to low 70s—warmest on the north side of the bay—and cooler inland with mid-60s to around 80ºF expected. Gusty west-northwesterly onshore and up-valley winds late in the day.
Extended: Temperatures should remain fairly seasonable through mid-week as the upper level forces battle it out. High pressure will win out into to the weekend, however, sending temperatures upward—especially away from the coast.
