Capitola discussing ban on filtered tobacco sales this week

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Capitola City Council will be discussing banning the sale of filtered tobacco in the city at their meeting tomorrow night.

Santa Cruz County and the City of Santa Cruz have both already passed their own filtered tobacco ban.

Yet, enforcement has been delayed until either two cities in the county pass similar bans or until January 1st, 2027, whichever comes later.

Capitola would be the second city to adopt the ordinance if passed.

First 5 California and Save Our Shores have sent letters of support for the ordinance regarding pollution and health concerns.
