SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - San Benito County supervisors heard a presentation on Wednesday about the impact on the county's Health and Human Services by cuts from President Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill."

San Benito County health officials say that new work requirements, immigration status, and eligibility checksĀ for Medi-Cal could affect nearly 12,000 recipients, andĀ over people in the county may lose their CalFresh benefits.

This loss of coverage will increase costs for the local health agency while reducing the number of people it can help.

"If we're providing services that are no longer going to be covered through subverted funds, and we are not being reimbursed for those services. Coming to the general fund without us having any idea of what that's going to be, makes it almost impossible to budget for," said Supervisor Angela Curro.

The county's Health and Human Services agency says it expects more consequences from the funding cuts, like heavier workloads for staff, delays in service, and staff burnout and turnover.
