Highway 1 reopens near Panther Beach after major injury crash

DAVENPORT, Calif. (KION-TV) - A major injury crash caused a portion of Highway 1 to be closed this afternoon near Panther Beach.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 4 p.m. with two vehicles involved. Those involved in the accident suffered major injuries.

However, both were breathing and conscious at the scene. Both north and southbound lanes were closed as a result, but reopened around 5 p.m.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
