Victim identified in July shooting near Cesar Chavez Park in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - The victim of a deadly shooting near Ceasar Chavez Park last month has been identified.

According to the Salinas Police, the victim has been identified as 39-year-old Andres Orellana. On the evening of July 26, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation showing gunfire in the area.

When police arrived, they found Orellana suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Salinas Police are now searching for three individuals in dark clothing who were running westbound on N. Madeira Avenue immediately following the shooting.

Detectives are asking Salinas residents for any footage of the incident or any information, and to contact Detective Pete Gomez at 831-901.4735 or 831-758-7162.
