Monterey County to ask for continued federal funding of migrant education programs

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Monterey County Board of Supervisors is asking our federal representatives to push for continued funding for vital migrant education programs.

Supervisor Luis Alejo says over 10,000 students and their families in the county depend upon these services.

They include academic tutoring, summer enrichment opportunities, college prep, health screenings, and resources to promote parent engagement.

Supervisor Alejo, adding that despite previously frozen federal funding for California schools being unfrozen, these programs remain at risk of severe cuts in the upcoming fiscal year.
