CAL FIRE launches new Burn Severity Viewer map

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION-TV) - CAL FIRE is launching a new tool that they say makes nearly a decade of wildfire impact data more accessible.

The Burn Severity Viewer is an interactive map that shows how wildfires from 2015 to 2023 have affected California's landscapes across the state. One can also search for fires by name, size, and acreage.

CAL FIRE says the map was built to support transparency, forest health, and long-term resilience.
