One person dead in Prunedale mobile home fire on Monday
CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- One person has died in an early morning structure fire of a mobile home in Prunedale on Monday morning.
North Monterey County Fire responded to calls of a possible fire with possible entrapment in the area of Tucker and Strawberry Roads.
Upon arrival, 30 percent of the double-wide trailer had been engulfed in flames and was spreading to the attic area. Windows were broken to help ease the flow and stop the spread from growing.
Fire crews from Aromas and North County Fire immediately began hitting the fire with water from inside and spoke to witnesses for more information.
One person nearby said that they had not seen the person who lived in the home and knew that their bedroom was on the opposite side of the fire.
Two members broke the bedroom window and searched for the resident inside, finding them and taking them out of the home within eight minutes of arriving at the scene.
Medic crews began life-saving procedures on the resident, but despite those attempts, they did not survive.
North Monterey County Firefighters expressed their condolences to the life lost and the friends and family of the said resident. They also wish to thank the crews from Aromas, Watsonville, and Monterey Regional Fire, along with AMR and the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.
