HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) - A man from San Jose was arrested Sunday for stealing a car and for having burglary tools in Hollister.

According to the Hollister Police Department, a person living on the 400 block of Verona Place spotted a man breaking into a vehicle before they drove a short distance away. That same person followed the suspect from a distance, notifying the police of the crime.

As Hollister Police officers arrived at the area, they found the suspect, a 24-year-old from San Jose named Joseph Moreno, sitting in the car.

The officer determined the car had been stolen and found a bag of burglary tools.

A second car in front of that car was also determined to have been stolen out of Sunnyvale. Moreno was arrested without incident and booked on multiple charges, including vehicle theft and possession of burglary tools.

Other charges include carrying a concealed dagger and possession of drug paraphernalia.
