Marina man arrested for stealing car on Sunday afternoon

MARINA, Calif. (KION-TV) - A man from Marina was arrested on Sunday for stealing a car last seen on July 21.

According to the Marina Police Department, the driver was spotted by the Salinas Police FLOCK camera as driving a stolen burgundy Kia from Marina.

Officers attempted to stop the car at California and Reindollar Ave, but the driver took off from there down the dead-end street of Westwood Court. The driver and a passenger left the car, leading to a foot chase, hopping over fences.

The first suspect, a 16-year-old, was captured while the other kept on going. After setting up a search perimeter, an officer found the suspect, 21-year-old Anthony Acevedo Plascenia, in a portable toilet.

Plascenia was also found to have four warrants for his arrest and was booked into Monterey County Jail. The other suspect was released to their parents.
