Hollister Airport plane collision Saturday morning

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Hollister Police say that they responded to a two-aircraft crash at the Hollister Municipal Airport Saturday, after calls came in that an airplane collided with another one and then caught fire.

Officers say that they found one single plane on the runway with significant damage and people who were at the airport at the time along with Hollister Fire, were able to contain the fire and extinguish it within minutes.

The fire department and AMR crews tended to injuries by one of the pilots, and they were taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital for further medical treatment.

Witnesses on scene told officers where the second pilot and plane ended up, and they say that pilot did not suffer any injuries. According to police, there were only minor damages to that plane.

They say that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was contacted and will be responding to conduct a full investigation.
