Man dead in fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in Gilroy

GILROY, Calif. (KION-TV) - A 61-year-old man is dead after a motorcyclist crashed into them on Tuesday night in Gilroy.

According to the Gilroy Police Department, the collision happened before 8 p.m. near Santa Teresa Boulevard and Ballybunion Drive. Officers found both the motorcyclist, a 53-year-old rider from Gilroy, and the 61-year-old in the roadway.

While the motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, the pedestrian was hit and suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital where they were being treated.

Gilroy Police's Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating and asking for anyone who may have video of the incident to contact their department at 408-846-0350.
