Two rescued in fishing boat fire near Capitola Beach

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) - Two people were rescued in a boat fire earlier today off the coast of Capitola Beach.

According to the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County, the 40-foot fishing vessel was fully engulfed in flames, with calls first coming in at 7:33 a.m.

Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol helped evacuate the two on board the ship. Both suffered minor smoke injuries.

The fire broke out around 7:33 a.m., with crews knocking out the fire on the boat around 9:23 a.m.

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) - A boat caught on fire off the coast of Capitola Beach earlier this morning.

According to the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County, crews have been staged in Capitola Village, with assistance from Monterey Fire in response.
