Seaside looks to adopt new gun store ordinance
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION-TV) - A new ordinance is set to be adopted to amend standards for selling firearms and ammunition in Seaside.
The ordinance amends parts of the city's municipal code to add more protections for the sale of firearms and ammunition.
One is to have gun shop owners and other places acquire an annual permit from the chief of police.
Another amendment would create a new classification for firearms that would separate them from "General retail."
That would also ensure that no guns are sold within 300 feet of a school, park, or child care center.
The seaside city council hopes to adopt the ordinance on Thursday.
