Woman severely injured in motorcycle crash in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) - A 23-year-old woman was injured during a crash on Highway 1 near Park Avenue on Saturday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was riding her Harley-Davidson Sportster when she suddenly went off the road and into nearby vegetation.

She had suffered major injuries and was transported to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

The unidentified rider had been wearing a helmet at the time of the solo crash.

The cause is still being investigated, but neither alcohol nor drugs is believed to have factored into the crash.
