Large-Scale Federal Enforcement Operations Take Place at Glass House Farms Locations in Carpinteria and Ventura County
By Andrew Gillies, Alissa Orozco
CENTRAL COAST REGION, Calif. (KEYT) – A large federal law enforcement response involving members of Homeland Security Investigations and armored personnel carriers on Casitas Pass Road in Carpinteria as well as along Laguna Road between Oxnard and Camarillo Thursday.
"Today, I was at Casitas Pass Road in Carpinteria where ICE was conducting a raid using disproportionate displays of force against local farm workers and our agricultural community," read a statement Thursday from Congressman Salud Carbajal's Office.
"As a member of Congress and representative of the Central Coast, I have the right to conduct oversight and see first-hand what ICE was doing here. As soon as I walked up, I was denied entry and was not allowed to pass. This was completely unacceptable. There’s been a troubling lack of transparency from ICE since the Trump Administration started, and I won’t stop asking questions on behalf of my constituents. I will be demanding answers from the Department of Homeland Security to find out who they detained and where the detainees are being taken. And let me be clear: these militarized ICE raids are not how you keep our communities safe. This kind of chaos only traumatizes families and tears communities apart. They are also a gross misuse of limited resources and a betrayal of the values that define us as Americans."
Your News Channel captured the following images of the federal activity, armed and masked personnel, and a growing number of people gathering in response along Casitas Pass Road Thursday.
Senator Monique Limón also released a statement on the incident:
"Today, we are witnessing masked National Guard troops with rifles and armed military vehicles aiding immigration officials in raids and checkpoints in Carpinteria and Camarillo. These actions are terrorizing to our communities – documented or not."
A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office shared the following statement regarding the ongoing enforcement action in Carpinteria when contacted for more information: "We have been advised of some activity for purposes of de-conflicting activity. (In case we were planning a separate operation or activity in the area) These are not requests for our assistance and deputies do not respond to assist with immigration enforcement. Many members of the public are calling our dispatch centers and asking us to intervene. It is very important that the public understand that we are not assisting nor can we legally thwart or halt these federal agencies. We have received report of disputes in the area but no injuries that I am aware of."

Your News Channel also received reports of similar, large-scale federal enforcement action on Laguna Road in the areas between Oxnard and Camarillo city limits.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office confirmed that its deputies were warned of the enforcement operation, but had no deputies on the scene and were not asked to assist by federal officials.Aerial Footage from Camarillo
Immigration enforcement operations have been reported by Your News Channel is Carpinteria Monday and Tuesday of this week and the City of Carpinteria has called for a special meeting to discuss the federal enforcement activity that will begin 6 p.m. Thursday night.
"This is political theater," said Congressman Salud Carbajal while at the scene of the federal immigration raid in Carpinteria. "I was a Marine. This is ridiculous, Its overkill. Playing soldiers on American streets is not what we're about. They are creating an untenable environment where people could get hurt. Its really unfortunate."
"I identified myself as a member of Congress. They wouldn't let me in," continued Congressman Carbajal. "They are going after hard working people who are working in the field. People who put food on the table. They are creating an incendiary environment where people could get hurt."
In response to Your News Channel inquiries based on detainee accounts, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson declined to confirm the existence of a Camarillo detention facility on Wednesday stating, "Any claim that there is a lack of food or subprime conditions at ICE detention centers are false. All detainees are provided with proper meals, medical treatment, and have opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers. Ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of individuals in our custody is a top priority at ICE. Meals are certified by dieticians. Ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of individuals in our custody is a top priority at ICE. Why does the media continue to fall for the sob stories of illegal aliens in detention and villainize ICE law enforcement?"
In June of this year, Your News Channel covered the detention of Juan Ramirez Diaz, a 33-year-old Oxnard resident and U.S. citizen, during an immigration raid targeting his father.
In response to Your News Channel inquiries, the Department of Homeland Security issued the following explanation of the detention, "On June 16, 2025, ICE arrested Juan Carlos Ramirez—an illegal alien from Mexico with a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon and an arrest for child cruelty. During the arrest, Ramirez’s son, a U.S. citizen, interfered with the arrest. He refused to comply with officers’ orders to back up and aggressively raised his fists to square off with law enforcement. The officers arrested him on suspicion of obstruction. Anyone who actively obstructs law enforcement in the performance of their sworn duties will face consequences which could include arrest. Our officers are facing a 413% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members."
The Department of Homeland Security did not respond to multiple emailed requests for more information about the claims made in the above quote.
On Thursday of last week, President Trump detailed a program that might allow some migrants to remain in the country and work in the agriculture or hospitality sectors, but a statement from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on Tuesday of this week clarified that there would be "no amnesty" in the Administration's plans to have a "100% American workforce".
"When you think about it, there are 34 million able-bodied adults in our Medicaid program," noted Secretary Rollins Tuesday. "So, no amnesty under any circumstances, mass deportations continue, but in a strategic and intentional way, as we move our workforce towards more automation and towards a 100% American workforce."
Media contacts with the Department of Homeland Security have been reached for confirmation and details and their responses will be added to this article when received.
