Two cannabis storefronts coming to Sand City

SAND CITY, Calif. (KION-TV) - An ordinance approved in late 2024 allows for up to two retail storefronts, which can only be located in the city's two regional shopping centers.

Unlike most other local jurisdictions, Sand City says it has not established a special municipal tax on cannabis retail sales.

An orientation meeting for prospective applicants is happening on the 17th at 3:30 p.m. in the city council chambers.

A lottery will be held in early fall to select which businesses will set up shop.
