King City Police Department swears in new police chief

KING CITY, Calif. (KION-TV) - King City Police Chief Robert Masterson has been sworn in.

Chief Masterson is serving as police chief for a second time, having served from 2016 to 2020.

Masterson would go on to serve as the chief of the Atascadero Police for two years before returning to King City to serve as police captain.

King City Police Department stated on their Facebook that Masterson was "instrumental in rebuilding the Police Department staffing, policies, culture, and public trust; developing and implementing the Comprehensive Plan to End Youth Violence; and achieving major improvements in reducing crime and violence."
