Motorcyclist dead in Saturday crash in San Benito County

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) - A motorcyclist is dead after a crash Saturday afternoon on San Felipe Road in San Benito County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 3:35 p.m. at the roundabout on San Felipe Road at Bert Drive on July 5.

The driver of the motorcycle, an unidentified man from San Leandro, was transported to a hospital, where they died from their injuries.

CHP sends its condolences to the family and friends.

“This crash and its disastrous outcome were preventable and serves as a reminder to all motorcyclists to minimize their risks by wearing an approved helmet and protective gear, while riding in compliance with all traffic laws," said Captain Noel Coady of CHP's Hollister-Gilroy Division.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
