Victim identified in fatal Highway 183 semi-truck crash
CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION) - A woman from Pacific Grove has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash on Highway 183 near Castroville yesterday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was identified as 39-year-old Olga Melnikova of Pacific Grove. Melnikova was driving their Kia northbound on the highway around 12:26 p.m.
Melnikova veered off the road, crossing into the southbound lane and colliding head-on with a semi-truck. Melnikova was pronounced dead on the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
