Overnight closures coming to Capitola Ave., Rocky Creek Bridges May 4

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION) -- Drivers in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties should prepare for closures around notable bridges along Highway 1 on May 4.

According to Caltrans District 5, the seawall below Highway 1 near Rocky Creek Bridge will undergo emergency repairs from 10 p.m. on May 4 to 6 a.m. on May 5, resulting in a full closure of Highway 1 at Rocky Creek.

Despite the full closure, Big Sur will remain open for travelers.

Over in Santa Cruz County, their closure will be at State Park Drive on May 4, with a later closure for the Bay Avenue/Porter Street interchange.

This is due to the construction of the wood and metal framework of the Capitola Avenue Bridge Overcrossing.

State Park Drive will be closed overnight from Sunday, May 4, to Monday, May 5, and Tuesday, May 6, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The Bay Avenue/Porter Street closure will be overnight from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, to Thursday, May 8, then again on Sunday, May 11.
