Pursuit ends with suspect crashing into City Hall gate in Greenfield

GREENFIELD, Calif. (KION) -- A suspect is in custody after crashing into the gate at Greenfield City Hall during a quick pursuit on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. after a traffic stop turned into a small police pursuit between Greenfield Police and the suspect from out of town.

The suspected driver led the chase before entering Greenfield City Hall's parking lot and crashing into a gate.

The damage is reported to be in the thousands. As for the cause of the crash, Greenfield Police Chief Guillermo "Bill" Mixer added that the investigation is still ongoing.

"We'll have to undergo a test to determine if the individual was not under the influence of alcohol or other drugs," Chief Mixer said. "He is definitely not from around here."

No one was injured in the pursuit, and the suspect was detained.
